Meet Chris

Chris Suttle has played many roles over the years for the great state of North Carolina.  As Blackbeard the pirate, he has entertained generations of fans, portraying North Carolina’s most beloved buccaneer at festivals and state functions.  He appeared as Blackbeard in Season 2 ep 3 of Expedition Unknown in 2015 and was Blackbeard for the Beaufort Pirate Invasion from 2012-2016

As Capt Scurvy, Mr Suttle has kept alive the dying art of fire breathing.  He created Capt Scurvy’s Carnival in 2000, a sideshow based traveling entertainment troupe.  Mr Suttle has always believed if the world had a bit more circus in it, the world would be a better place.  The circus doesn’t judge or discriminate.  It is built around a history of celebrating what makes each of us unique, no matter how weird that trait may be.  This mentality has served him well in state politics, advocating for bills to benefit minorities and LBGTQ community members.  

As a cannabis lobbyist, Mr Suttle has navigated the complicated waters of state politics to land safely on shore with a 4 and 0 record.  All 4 bills he has lobbied for have passed one or both of the NCGA chambers 

As a Chapel Hill resident, he is often seen frequenting small businesses like Epilogue, Blue Horn Lounge, attending Love Church or enjoying a taste of New Orleans at Imbibe.  He is also seen just as frequently attending to the honeless community the town has forgotten, most recently handing out knee and ankle braces to the wounded.

In December of 2024 Mr Suttle suffered devistating injuries from a chapel hill bus accident.  He decided to turn tragedy into triumph and make sure that no one else in Chapel Hill would suffer the way he has and decided to run for Mayor to bring much needed change to the town he loves.
